“it’s time to *really* talk about the album…”

so, I figured since this is the first time that we’re “really” talking about it, i would start here. because after all this is where everything started in the first place. well besides Jeremy’s living room and our PureVolume profile. this is where we met some of you and built a relationship from afar with so many who, even all these years later, still support our band.

we’re only about 2 weeks away from actually putting music to tape. no, we aren’t recording this album analog but hopefully you’ll understand the expression. we’ve already gone through all the songs that we have hoped would make it this far and they – about 19 – of them are ready to be recorded. this doesn’t mean that we are going to have that many tracks on the album but it does mean that for the first time in the history of our band, we are going to record more than we actually need for an album and end up with more than a few extra tracks to play around with after the fact. it’s really been a fun process for us.

Paramore have posted an update on their progress in recording their fourth studio album.

The band recently revealed that Beck/Nine Inch Nails bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen will be producing their new record, with singer Hayley Williams adding that they have so far recorded and completed one track, which is titled ‘Daydreaming’.

Answering questions posted by a fan on Buzznet, the singer spoke about working with Meldal-Johnsen and described working with him as “easily the most inspired and liberating experience we’ve had in the studio so far.”

Speaking about working with Johnsen, Williams said: “At this point, we have recorded one song with Justin. That time in the studio was easily the most relaxed, inspired, and liberating experiences we have had in any studio thus far. We are huge fans of his work not only as a producer but as a musician, writer and musical director. He wears all those hats well and with a lot of humility.”

What’s the reasoning behind Paramore being booked?
Most importantly they’re a great live band and they’ve got a new album out around the festivals so makes sense on that level. Also I like to try and get acts before the headliners that are different but which complement them. So with The Cure being a more established act someone younger , with a female singer, works well. They’re also a big act making exclusive festival appearances for us, their last UK tour sold over 100,000 tickets and whilst they may have loud detractors on forums they also figure very highly on every poll we run. This year’s marmite band I guess but there’s a lot of people who want to see them.

They mention something about Paramore having “a new album” but please remember that Hayley said that she didn’t know when the new album will be out.

I’ve been wanting a theme with the photoshoot Hayley did for Elle Magazine since a long time ago, and I have to say that Paula did an amazing job with the theme.
